Experience & Services

PNC Financial Services

Human Resources Intern

My first role in the HR field was an internship with PNC Financial Services, which I began just two weeks after graduating from university. During my time at PNC, I had the privilege of working alongside a highly skilled and supportive team, which provided me with the groundwork I needed to enter the world of human resources. I gained hands-on experience particularly with talent acquisition and HR data management. I collaborated with recruiters and hiring managers and successfully guided over 150 candidates through a transitional onboarding process, as all of these employees were transtioning from an acquision by PNC.

In addition to onboarding coordination, I worked extensively with Workday, managing and resolving duplicate candidate records while verifying employment histories for previous workers. One of my key contributions was drafting offer letters for interns and PNC’s development program candidates. I also generated new worker profiles. This internship enhanced my technical skills and solidified my interest as pursuing a career in human resources.

ASAP-Medical Staffing

Human Resources Specialist

Working at ASAP Medical Staffing, a fast-paced startup, was a pivotal moment in my HR career. From day one, I was immersed in the challenges of managing HR operations for a growing team, leading the charge on key responsibilities that stretched my skills and adaptability.

I spearheaded the preparation and management of the new hire onboarding process, ensuring a seamless transition for over 80 employees. In addition to onboarding, I handled some of the most complex staffing duties, including counseling employees, administering disciplinary actions, conducting performance reviews, and even navigating termination procedures when necessary.

Payroll was another critical area where I made an impact, adjusting timesheets for incentives, PTO, bonuses, reimbursements, and deductions with precision and consistency. To support the company’s evolving needs, I created, managed, and updated essential HR documents, including employee handbooks and performance evaluation forms.

This experience truly felt like a "trial by fire," but it allowed me to learn an incredible amount about the unique challenges small businesses and startups face in managing HR and compliance. It’s this firsthand experience that fuels my passion for consulting with other small businesses today. I understand the pressures startups face, and I’m committed to helping them build compliant, efficient, and employee-focused HR systems.

Attorneys’ Liability Assurance Society

Human Resources Assistant

My role at ALAS has been the perfect middle ground between my experiences at a Fortune 500 company and a small startup. With a team of around 100 professionals, ALAS offers a robust benefits package and a wide range of HR responsibilities that have allowed me to grow and refine my expertise in managing both people and processes.

One of my primary responsibilities is analyzing benefits utilization data and preparing reports in ADP. These reports support strategic decision-making regarding benefits offerings and departmental cost management, ensuring the company’s resources are optimized. Additionally, I manage the entire lifecycle of employee onboarding and offboarding, including maintaining search files, preparing documentation, overseeing background checks, and coordinating onboarding and termination procedures.

As the administrator of ALAS’s comprehensive benefits programs, I oversee healthcare insurance, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plans, health savings accounts, and commuter benefits, ensuring seamless integration with payroll processes. Speaking of payroll, I process both bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll for approximately 110 employees, maintaining accuracy and compliance across the board.

This role has deepened my understanding of HR’s strategic impact in a mid-sized organization and solidified my passion for creating efficient and compliant HR systems. The diversity of responsibilities I’ve managed here has prepared me to take my expertise to other organizations, particularly small businesses and startups, where I can offer tailored HR solutions and support.
